This game can be played virtually or using a whiteboard in the office.
The rules are quite simple. There are two boards – one you control (the admin board) and the game board. Draw up your 5 most important key metrics (I usually focus on inputs rather than outputs) and each time one of your SDR’s hit one of those metrics they get the opportunity to guess where a battleship has been placed on the game board. Reference that with the admin board and paint the cell in a red colour if its a hit or a yellow if it’s a miss. I usually put the SDR’s name in initials inside the cell so I can track who has guessed where and also see who is performing well.
The winner is based on the number of total ships sunk – not total hits. This gives equal opportunity to people to win based on strategy and pushes performance at different times during the day based on where the game is currently situated.
Based on the number of metrics it’s entirely possible to reduce the number of ships, increase the board size or increase the number of metrics you measure to secure a turn. I usually tie the win to a particular paid or non-paid incentive in the office and continually post updates if I’m running the game remotely.
I’ve attached an excel spreadsheet for you to use..
