I can’t fathom the amount of time I’ve spent over the years finding myself getting complacent. The team’s are running well, the results are firing, bonus cheques are coming in yet somehow – I’m feeling disenchanted by the results. I’m starting to stagnate. I’m losing interest. Don’t get me wrong, winning is one of the best feelings in the world but if you’re like me you’re not just content with winning. The best is never good enough, you always want to get better!
I’ve always found renewed interest in furthering my education. How I do that depends on what skills I feel I’m lacking, what interests me and how I can go about earning new qualifications, certifications and accreditations.
Ask yourself:
- What are you interested in?
- What skills are you lacking?
- What skills do you want to expand on?
- Who do I admire and what skills do they have that I want?
From there you have a range of different options to choose from, including seeking out short courses on websites like alison.com which offer free courses, or downloading e-books from places like Audible, reaching out to your mentors to understand where they gained their skills or seeking out training and certification options through your employer (like learning more advanced techniques with a software suite like MS Office or maybe your Dialler or CRM!)
I hope this will help re-ignite the fire in your belly and help you become the hungry sales manager that I am!
